Banks's Story

Life Well, now... where to start? After NHS, I went to Stetson and partied myself out of school in only three semesters. Redeemed myself at Middle Diddle, then off to Auburn to graduate in Building Science in 1977. Built hospitals and such for about 10 years, along the way started accumulating about 1700 skydives. Actually had a skydiving business from 86-94. I "got saved" the night I'd pled nolo to a DUI (October 7, 1986), answered (of all things God had in mind!) the call to preach in 1988, became a "student local pastor" in the UMC and started seminary in 1991. In '94 I graduated from Emory University, Candler School of Theology, and spent a total of 13 years in the UMC as an ordained clergy. Along the way, Ifound the love of my life, Kendra. She is quite a lady and a huge warrior in the Kingdom. Have 4 boys from high school to second grade: Kenneth, 17, is a senior and into ROTC and wrestling (189 or 215, depends on the week!) He has been accepted to Auburn, and has a congressional nomination to the Air Force Academy and is also interested in GA Tech and the Coast Guard Academy. Eric is 14, and came to live with us full time last year. He's a freshman, in ROTC with his big brother, and is a great student and into video games. Michael is 10, in the 5th grade, and is our unstoppable athlete as well as a great student. Daniel is 7, in the second grade, likes sports, is also a great student, but is undisputably the clown in the family. You never know what he will say or do next. ree mornings in a row at 4:30 am to say, "It's time to go!" I just thought it was time to leave my current appointment in the UMC, but as things developed over the next 5 months or so it became clear even to this Auburn graduate that God was leading me to start a new church. (Clearly His idea, since I never had any interest in being a church planter!). But the last weekend of February 2004, AllPoints Community Church started up, and we are now almost four years old and going strong. We are located in the heart of Hickory Flat Community between Canton and Woodstock, and have been given a vision to be a church where all are shown the heart of the Father, and where all are healed. We have been blessed to be a part of many healings, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. This past year in March I made my first mission trip to Africa. (I have been to Estonia, Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras on previous trips.) We set up the distribution of the first million meals of a feeding program for distribution in the arid parts of Kenya. In October I made my first mission trip to Mexico. If any of you want to get out and see the world and God move in mighty ways, give me a call! You can find the church website by googling AllPoints Community Church... Who would've ever thunk it? Like the late, great Jerry Garcia used to sing, "what a long, strange trip it's been..." and I would not change a minute of it. Well, maybe a few! I could have done with a lot less hangovers over the years! God bless and Godspeed in all you do! Peace, Banks
